Tahiti is the biggest of the 118 islands and atolls that constitute French Polynesia and is situated in the Society Islands, an archipelago which includes Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Taha’a et Bora Bora. The other archipelagos have some truly breathtaking scenery such as the magnificent atolls of Rangiroa, Manihi, Tikehau and Fakarava in the Tuamotu Islands and the majestic mountains of Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands.

The Islands of Tahiti are mid-way between California and Australia in the southern hemisphere and in the same time zone as Hawaii. Papeete-Faa’a airport (PPT) is an eight-hour flight from Los Angeles (LAX). Air Tahiti Nui and Air France have daily flights from the United States.Hawaiian Airlines flies directly to Papeete from Hawaii (HNL).

TIME ZONE
The Islands of Tahiti are two hours behind Pacific Standard time, three hours behind Pacific Summer time and 8 hours behind universal time. The Marquesas Islands are not in the same time zone and are one and a half hours ahead of the rest of the archipelagos.
