Cruise travellers will be thrilled to hear about two new hotels both conveniently located close to the ferry terminal in Papeete, the boutique eco-hotel Kon Tiki Tahiti and the colourful, soon-to-open Maitai Express Tahiti.

Kon Tiki Tahiti Hotel opening

The hotel is fitted with Stopsol glass which reduces solar heat by 65%, hygiene products in the hotel are made with locally based Monoi oil, and the hotel has a waste management system as well as regular training for the staff in water and energy consumption.

InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa Partnership with 2-Star Michelin Chef Bruno Oger

The restaurant Le Lotus has announced a menu created by Bruno Oger, a 2-star Michelin French chef at La Villa Archange in Cannes. His cuisine is based on sea products, plants and herbs that he uses in Tahiti, adapting and using local products. Working alongside Chef Jacques di Guisto, the recognised expert chef will be overseeing the execution of new dishes and training of culinary staff throughout the year.
Bruno Oger is perfectly in line with the philosophy of the InterContinental Hotel chain in French Polynesia, working as much as possible in short circuits, favouring local and organic products. Le Lotus restaurant is an overwater restaurant overlooking neighbouring Moorea and gives guests the ultimate Tahitian culinary experience.
The Brando announces new vegan menus
The Brando is a unique luxury resort on French Polynesia’s breathtakingly beautiful private island of Tetiaroa – an atoll composed of a dozen small islands surrounding a sparkling lagoon 30 miles northeast of Tahiti. The Brando offers carefree luxury in the midst of pristine nature. With access to the island by private plane, the resort features 35 villas on white-sand beaches frequented by sea turtles, manta rays and exotic birds. The resort was designed to reflect Polynesian lifestyles and culture.
Pierre Lecorne, executive chef at The Brando, and Polynesian chef Hereiti Seaman worked together on local food compositions, using some of the produce from the garden to integrate healthier and vegan dishes into all the menus.
At the Nami Teppanyaki, for example, the menu will include vegetable tempura, vegetarian spring rolls with taro, mushrooms and pota, and Japanese pasta with green tea.
At Les Mutinés restaurant, there is a vegan menu, but also custom-made vegan dishes based on the fresh produce available.
The Beachcomber Café with its exceptional lagoon and ocean views has also incorporated vegan dishes on its menu.
