Taha'a is reputed for its vanilla, as well as for its rum. The vanilla is of an exceptional quality and considered to be among the very best in the world. It is often referred to as the black gold of The Islands of Tahiti. Vanilla valley is on the east of the island, where many of the plantations gladly offer guided tours. You can learn the entire process of vanilla cultivation, from marrying the flowers to drying the aromatic beans.
