Sustainable and Solidarity Tourism

FAPE – Te Ora Naho creates the Natura Porinetia

FAPE – Te Ora Naho creates the Natura Porinetia Fund and launches its first call for projects. Tahiti Tourisme strengthens this fund with a tourist donation collection system to support sustainable initiatives.

“Tourism must be a driver of sustainable development, respectful of the environment and our culture. This collaboration with FAPE, which creates the Natura Porinetia Fund, will allow visitors and industry stakeholders to engage concretely in more responsible tourism.”

Jean-Marc MOCELLIN – CEO of Tahiti Tourisme

A lever for strengthening environmental protection efforts and developing sustainable tourism.

The creation of the Natura Porinetia Fund, initiated by FAPE, is driven by several objectives:

  • For FAPE: Strengthen its support for member associations and consolidate links between the associative and economic sectors.
  • For businesses, organizations, and individuals: Provide an opportunity to support associations with the guarantee that funds will be used effectively for concrete actions.
  • For associations: Meet their funding needs while guiding them in the implementation of their projects.

Fund Operations

FAPE collects and manages donations to this Fund, organizes Calls for Projects to select projects to be funded, and ensures full transparency regarding the use of donations and achieved results.

The projects can focus on various environmental sustainability themes:

  • terrestrial and marine biodiversity,
  • circular economy and waste reduction,
  • decarbonization,
  • climate change adaptation,
  • Polynesian nature/culture connection,
  • food security, natural soil preservation/enrichment, water and energy management,
  • and pollution prevention and control.

Additionally, FAPE organizes and sets up a Selection Committee to select winning projects from the Call for Projects and the “Sustainable Tourism Selection,” which Tahiti Tourisme promotes to tourists.

An Annual Donor Assembly is held each year to present project progress, financial and moral reports, and to strengthen exchanges.
