Tahiti Tourisme’s mission is to promote The Islands of Tahiti as a destination throughout the world. At local level, in addition to promoting domestic tourism, its main tasks are to provide information, organise events and raise public awareness of the importance of tourism. Tourism is the number 1 source of wealth for the local economy, and it is vital to raise awareness and involve the local population in its development.

The human adventure

Helping to attract tourists

The biennial “J’embellis Ma Commune” competition (2024-2025 edition) invites the archipelagos to deck themselves out in their finest finery. Since 2015, this flagship initiative of French Polynesia has been encouraging the planting and embellishment of public spaces to transform each commune into an unforgettable port of call. More than just an aesthetic competition, this project is a real human adventure that unites the local populations, improves their living environment and reinforces the image of The Islands of Tahiti as an exceptional, well-kept and welcoming destination.

Tahiti Tourisme

A 7th edition under the banner of

Innovation and sustainability

This new edition introduces some major innovations to guarantee lasting results: the work period has been extended to 15 months and efforts are now focused on the “gateways” to our islands, such as ports and airports. By directly involving the Tourist Boards, the competition fosters an unprecedented synergy between municipalities, associations and professionals in the sector. For the first time, a special “Taere Māʻohi” prize will be awarded to the project incorporating the strongest cultural dimension, highlighting the importance of Polynesian identity in landscaping.

From 5 February to 11 March 2024, associations from Tahiti and the archipelagos (Tuamotu, Gambier, Marquises and Australes) are invited to mobilise their energies to compete. With a prestigious jury comprising the Ministries of Tourism, Culture and the Environment, and prizes of up to 600,000 CFP francs, this 7th edition promises to reveal some creative and environmentally-friendly projects. Together, by putting flowers on our roads and squares, we can contribute to the vitality of Mana and the pride of our island communities.
