I/ NEW PROGRAMME ‘IA ORA NA

Following the success of the three seasons of AHITEA, a weekly programme devoted to tourism and its professions, Tahiti Tourisme is launching ‘IA ORA NA.

The aim of this programme is to inform and raise awareness among the local population, as well as professionals, of the key role played by the country’s leading industry in the daily lives of each and every one of us, and of the challenges of today and tomorrow, against the backdrop of a global health crisis that continues to affect the entire planet as well as French Polynesia. In addition, this television programme, aimed at the local population, also highlights the tourist products and services available on our islands, giving residents the incentive to stay on our islands and develop inland tourism.

The show’s tandem

Moeana PONT LILLO is a young Polynesian woman with a wealth of resources who takes control of the show as the main presenter and through the sections presented. After proudly representing her commune as Miss
Mahina in 2019. Moeana works in the tourism industry, which she knows well. This child of Fenua now wants to get more involved in raising local awareness of tourism, which her mission with “IA ORA NA” allows her to do, as she will be going out to meet professionals in the sector.

Tiga, for her part, will be a tourist on the ground, in search of the special features that make up the richness of Fenua. She’ll be cycling the roads of our archipelagos. Tiga is well known for having hosted the famous national programmes Riding Zone, for ten years on France Ô, and Echappées Belles, for two years on France 5.

The format

The format is 18 minutes divided into 3 sections:
1. The guest on the set
2. Employee of the week
3. The Pro Tourist

1. The guest on the show
The aim of the interview is to reassure viewers through the experience of professionals in tourism or related sectors (pearl farming, fishing, etc.) or emblematic local figures who, despite the crisis, continue to work for the development of the industry, sometimes finding alternative solutions that they hadn’t thought of before, and above all to encourage viewers to show solidarity with tourism by reminding them of good practice. The presenter then goes on to talk about the “training” and “professionalism” needed to develop tourism, to launch the Employee of the Week section.

2. Employee of the week
By proposing a section on the Employee of the Week, who may well be a student training in one of the tourism professions, the aim is to set an example for young people to encourage them to train and invest in tourism. By being “Employee of the Week”, the subject becomes a role model, an example for young people to follow. As a good Employee of the Week, he shares with us the best practices of a good professional. We believe that reminding people of the precautionary measures they can take can be effective in addition to the institutional messages if it’s their “cousin”, “neighbour” or “friend” who says it on television, as part of their job.

3. The Pro tourist
This section serves several purposes. Firstly, the aim is to raise awareness, inspire and involve those involved in tourism by highlighting the importance of the authenticity of certain aspects of the local culture, the everyday Polynesian way of life through customs (flower necklaces), practices (tapa) or products (Moorea pineapple). People are made aware of the major role they play in tourism, whether as actors or contributors. Secondly, the aim of this event is to encourage residents to stay in our islands, by showcasing a place, an activity, the Polynesian welcome, the cuisine and its products, and so on. In short, everything that contributes to making Tahiti & Her Islands a unique destination the world over.

Weekly broadcasts on local channels
There are 15 episodes planned for this 1st season, broadcast from Friday 7 January 2022. As with Ahitea, Tahiti Tourisme wanted to broadcast this programme on the 2 local channels. A new weekly television programme to be followed on the two local channels:
