The ” Tere i Te Fenua ‘Aihere” is not to be missed. If you need a break or want to get away from it all, join us on Saturday 30 October 2021 for an unforgettable experience. A popular event organised by Tahiti Tourisme and eagerly awaited every year by regulars on this tour of the island. This 7th edition will be no exception, with a local atmosphere guaranteed from A to Z. For the occasion, the Tahitian peninsula is in the spotlight, and guests will be setting off on a nautical excursion to Tautira aboard traditional trucks.
Adventure & History
The day’s journey, punctuated by discovery and immension, will start from a small village on the peninsula, none other than Tautira. A place that has lost none of its authenticity, between black sandy beaches and wild nature still steeped in the Mana, this is the experience that tourists and locals will be able to enjoy during this Tere i Te Fenua ‘Aihere. In keeping with tradition, the day will begin with a blessing followed by a welcome at Tatatua Park in Tautira. Guests will be able to enjoy the scenery of this first stop while savouring a traditional breakfast. As soon as breakfast is over, guests will be treated to cultural activities before setting off on a nautical excursion to the Tautira Marina. Along the way, a short history lesson will immerse them in stories and legends. Then it’s time to get out the cameras and put on your trainers for a peaceful hike to discover the Vaiote Petroglyph on the ancestral land of Ahiroroa. A blend of tradition and emotion, the guardian of Polynesian oral culture, an orero will captivate the attention of guests at the site. The powerful, charismatic voice of a speaker, storyteller, actor and singer will carry the show.
Rest & Swimming
A morning under the sign of culture that will fill the guests with unforgettable memories. By 1pm, it’s time for a real treat, a time to tantalise the taste buds and set off on a completely different journey, the local culinary universe with the famous Ma’a Tahiti. It needs no introduction! Whether you prefer sweet, savoury or both, there’s something for everyone. And for the more daring, the adventurous or simply the regulars, it’s impossible to miss the fᾱfaru. Going from black to white is how participants will discover the sandbank near Motu Te Pari. A fine powdery layer unlike that of Tatatua Park. After a gentle digestion, it’s free time to enjoy the surroundings and/or relax. Time has stopped, so we get out the sun creams (preferably eco-friendly): tan, fariente and enjoy the turquoise waters of Fenua ‘Aihere before heading back to the city at the end of the day. There are still the last few moments to share in the trucks: 1h30 of joyful, good-humoured journeys to the sound of ‘ukulele, traditional songs.
