TERE NA UTA

(Re)Discover the mountains and valleys of Tahiti

For this special edition of the Tere Nā Uta, Tahiti Tourisme invites you on Saturday 27 August to take a 4×4 tour of several of Tahiti’s mountains to enjoy spectacular panoramas and discover the secrets hidden in our valleys.

Between discovery...

Guests will embark on a breakfast at Pare Lodge to fuel up for the day’s many activities, fruit and local delicacies will be served. The vehicles will be waiting to take guests to the first stop, Mont Marau in Faa’a. This exceptional site will reveal its flora and, weather permitting, participants will be able to enjoy the flight of paragliders. Lunch will be at the Tahiti Hills Lodge, on the heights of Vaitavere in Punaauia, to enjoy local dishes and a spectacular panoramic view.

...History...

The afternoon will begin with several stops, including the Fortin overlooking the Punaruu valley. This historic monument, built in 1846 during the Franco-Tahitian wars and witness to a part of Tahiti’s history, has recently been restored to continue to bring a part of the past into the present.

Or the Punaruu valley, with another monument in the spotlight for this Tere, the stele on the Orange Tree Plateau. Located at the entrance to the Punaruu plateau, it pays tribute to the great names among the orange carriers who each year endure a gruelling journey to reach the famous orange plateau. The visit ends with a tasting of oranges from the Tāmanu plateau.

...and Culture

The next stop is the Tefana i Ahura’i marae on the heights of Faa’a. A cultural association will tell the stories and legends surrounding this site, which is less well known than some of Tahiti’s other marae, but which has remained in excellent condition since its restoration in 1980.

The day will end in the Outuaraea park with a traditional dance performance, while enjoying a friendly cocktail.
