Celebrations around Tahiti’s emblematic tiare flower

The Tahiti 2024 Tiare Days

A tribute to living heritage

From 5 to 7 December 2024, the city of Papeete will vibrate to the rhythm of the Journées du tiare Tahiti (Tahitian Tiara Days), a historic event that began over 60 years ago. Organised by Tahiti Tourisme in collaboration with the Assembly of French Polynesia, the CCISM and the Crafts Department, this year’s event will transform the capital into a veritable garden of experiences. A blend of ancestral traditions and modern dynamism, this celebration invites everyone to rediscover the flower that embodies the soul and welcome of our islands.

Crafts and festivities

The heart of the event will be in the Jardins de l’Assemblée and at the Papeete Market, where visitors can learn the art of wreath-making and explore the many virtues of the flower. A host of local craftspeople will be on hand to showcase Polynesian know-how through exhibitions and unique culinary workshops. It’s an invitation to enjoy an immersive experience where music, flavours and crafts come together to showcase the cultural identity of The Islands of Tahiti.

At the same time, the event is breathing new energy into local commerce thanks to a strong partnership with the CCISM. The town’s shop windows are decked out in their finest floral finery, while an interactive game entitled “Discover the mystery word” encourages the public to browse the partner boutiques. From decoration competitions to exclusive discounts, the Journées du tiare Tahiti create a unique link between preserving traditions and supporting the local economy, inviting residents and travellers alike to proudly wear the local floral outfit.
