Teahupo'o Point lies at the end of the road (or the beginning) at PK 0. Teahupo'o is a world famous surf spot, renowned for its powerful left-breaking waves. A surf competition is held here each year in August. Teahupo'o is also known for its beach and river. For those wishing to surf on the mythical wave, you have first to cross a bridge over the river before passing along a path that runs between houses and the beach. In this part of the island, all the beaches are of black sand.
