As part of its efforts to raise awareness of tourism among the local population, in 2018 Tahiti Tourisme produced and launched AHITEA, a weekly television programme dedicated to tourism and its professions, which is broadcast and rebroadcast on the two local television channels, TNTV and Polynésie la 1ère.

What does AHITEA mean?

In the REO dictionary of the French Polynesian Ministry of Culture’s translation and interpreting service, “AHITEA” means “to be in the sun”, which inspired director Karim Mahjouba, and which by extension became “to make a place for oneself in the sun”. The name fits perfectly with the image that the show wants to convey: training, working or undertaking in tourism to make a place for yourself in the sun, both figuratively (from a social point of view for professional success) and literally, because tourism in French Polynesia is synonymous with sunshine!

Who presents AHITEA?

The host of season 3 is once again Tamatoa, a young Polynesian aged 23. Working as a young man in the Maohi Protestant Church, Tamatoa has a wealth of experience and a strong cultural background. Bilingual in French and Tahitian, this nursery school teacher practises Reo Maohi. He’ll be the perfect ambassador to motivate and immerse viewers!

AHITEA – SEASON 3: A NEW SEASON, TWONEW FEATURES, THREE NEW SECTIONS

2) The ” Prospects ” section: This section will be devoted to the business of tourism, showcasing the sector’s dynamism and encouraging people to invest fully in our tourism industry.
