The aim of the “Sustainable Tourism Initiatives Competition” is to highlight the commitments and concrete actions in favour of more sustainable tourism carried out by professionals in the tourism sector in French Polynesia. It is in line with the country’s tourism development strategy – Fāri’ira’a Manihini 2027 (FM27) – and is in phase with the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), based on four pillars:
- Sustainable management,
- Socio-economic impact
- Cultural impact,
- Environmental impact.
