Survey of domestic tourism in French Polynesia

A new study dedicated to residents

In partnership with the Centre d’Études du Tourisme en Océanie-Pacifique (CETOP), Tahiti Tourisme is launching a survey dedicated to domestic tourism in French Polynesia.

A better understanding of residents' travel practices

The aim of the study is to gather reliable data on residents’ travel habits: frequency of departure, destinations, accommodation, activities, means of transport and spending levels.

Conducted over a period of one year (from March 2026 to March 2027), it will make it possible to take account of seasonality and obtain an overall view of local tourism, which is still poorly documented to date. The results will help to improve knowledge of the sector and inform public decision-making.

An initiative supported by tourism professionals

To encourage widespread participation and support this initiative, partners in the tourism sector have been asked to donate prizes, including inter-island air tickets and sea crossings.

Thanks to their contributions, a number of prizes will be up for grabs:

  • 6 return tickets to the Leeward Islands (excluding Maupiti), offered by Air Tahiti ;
  • 2 return tickets to the Leeward Islands, courtesy of Air Moana;
  • 2 Eco Vaeara’i booklets (10 one-way tickets Papeete-Moorea or Moorea-Papeete).

At the end of the questionnaire, participants may, if they wish, take part in a prize draw. The contact details collected for this purpose will be kept strictly separate from the answers and stored in a separate file.
