Tahiti Tourisme is delighted to announce the renewal of the ‘Ia Ora Na’ programme for a second season!

A new season and a host of new features

'IA ORA NA - Hinatea Colombani et Tiga

Created in 2021, ‘Ia Ora Na is an 18-minute programme comprising three sections devoted to the tourism industry and the tourism economy in French Polynesia, broadcast on TNTV and Polynésie la 1ère. The weekly programme, whose first season was a great success, has been renewed for a second season.

Season 1, which aired 14 episodes in early 2022, showcased the wealth of French Polynesia and the importance of tourism to The Islands of Tahiti. For this new season, which will be unveiled at the beginning of September on the two local television channels, the programme will this time be exploring new aspects of tourism, presenting some of the major events in the Polynesian calendar, sailing on a cruise to the Marquesas Islands and focusing on different islands.

Raising public awareness of the importance of tourism

The aim of the ‘Ia Ora Na’ programme is to inform and raise the awareness of the local population, as well as professionals, of the key role played by the country’s leading industry in the daily lives of everyone, and of the challenges of today and tomorrow. As the programme is aimed at the local population, it also highlights the tourist products and services available in our different archipelagos, to encourage residents to stay in our islands and develop inland tourism.

Special episodes and a new face

In order to showcase the different islands and promote their richness, season 2 of ‘Ia Ora Na will introduce you to the islands of Makatea and Rimatara through two special episodes devoted entirely to the activities on offer on these islands. The episodes will reveal the role played by tourism and its impact on the development of these islands and the various projects planned for the future.

Hinatea Colombani

Among the 15 episodes in this new season, the show will present other topical themes such as cruises in the Marquesas Islands, the destination’s preparations for the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Teahupoo and inclusive and sustainable tourism, which is gaining ground in the Fenua tourism industry.

Another new feature this season is the arrival of a new host, none other than Hinatea COLOMBANI, who replaces Moeana PONT-LILLO in the programme’s first section. A well-known local figure in Tahiti and her islands, Hinatea is particularly active in the cultural and artistic fields in French Polynesia. She will be sharing her passion and dynamism with viewers. Hinatea will also bring a touch of creativity to this 2nd season, by welcoming each guest on set with a personalised challenge based on the episode’s theme.

Hinatea COLOMBANI is passionate about Polynesian culture and history. Head of a Tahitian ‘Ori school since 2008, she founded the ‘Arioi centre in 2016 to share this passion and pass it on both locally and internationally. Based on the same principle as the Fare ‘Arioi (places of artistic and cultural transmission and teaching at the time), her aim is to democratise Polynesian culture and make it accessible to as many people as possible. Teacher of ‘ori tahiti, influencer, cultural ambassador… Hinatea is a young Polynesian woman of many resources who lives her passion on a daily basis.

Tiga

Hinatea is no stranger to the world of tourism, as she regularly works with foreigners during workshops or e-learning sessions on themes linked to Polynesian culture. Her influence also led her to collaborate with Tahiti Tourisme on the “Tell your best memory with a tourist” communication campaign, in which local personalities were invited to share a memorable experience with a tourist in 2019, with the aim of raising awareness among the local population of the importance of tourism.

She returned to Tahiti Tourisme as the main presenter of the ‘Ia Ora Na’ programme, continuing to act as an ambassador for Fenua by sharing her values on the show.

As for Tiga, she is back in her role as a professional tourist in the field, criss-crossing the roads of our 5 archipelagos by bike. Known for having hosted the famous national programmes Riding Zone, for ten years on France Ô, and Echappées Belles, for two years on France 5, she is once again setting out to meet the local population and discover the special features that make up the richness of Fenua.

New season, same format

The format of the show remains unchanged, with season 2 consisting of 15 18-minute episodes divided into 3 sections:

1. The guest on the show

2. Employee of the week

3. Experience (La Touriste Pro)

A professional from the tourism sector, related sectors (pearl farming, fishing, etc.) or an emblematic local figure – these are the guests who will appear in this section. The aim is to highlight the people involved in developing the industry, and above all to encourage viewers to show solidarity with tourism by reminding them of good practice. The presenter then links in with the ‘training’ and ‘skills’ needed to develop tourism to introduce the ‘Employee of the Week’ section.

The aim of this section is to encourage young people to train for jobs in tourism and to get involved in the sector. As “employee of the week”, the person interviewed becomes a role model, an example for young people who will be able to draw inspiration from them, their career path and their sound advice as professionals in the sector. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase the different professions and people who work for our tourism industry on a daily basis.

The first aim of this section is to raise awareness, inspire and involve those involved in tourism by highlighting the authenticity that characterises The Islands of Tahiti. The aim is to raise awareness of inclusive and sustainable development and environmental protection, to inspire by sharing techniques, tips and best practice and, finally, to involve all local professionals (accommodation, service providers, tourist boards, etc.) in the development of local tourism, by becoming players in their own right rather than dependents.

Secondly, the aim of this event is to encourage residents to stay on our islands. Domestic tourism is an equally important component in the development of local tourism. Viewers are invited to discover, or rediscover, The Islands of Tahiti by highlighting a place, an activity, the Polynesian welcome, the cuisine, or even local products… In short, everything that contributes to the development of the islands. In short, everything that makes Tahiti & Her Islandsa unique destination the world over.

The 15 episodes of season 2 will be broadcast from Friday 2 September 2022. The programme can be seen on the two local channels:

  • Tahiti Nui Télévision (TNTV) on Fridays at 7.00pm (Rebroadcast: Saturdays at 12.10am).
  • Polynésie la 1ère on Sundays at 5pm (rebroadcast on Wednesdays at 2pm).
