The Pacific Asia Tourism Association invites Tahiti Tourisme to a webinar on the development of sustainable tourism in the Pacific.

Our vision

Palau Visitors Authority, Booking.comandTahiti Tourisme, represented by its Managing Director Jean-Marc MOCELLIN, were invited on 17 May 2023 to host a webinar organised by thePacific Asia Tourism Association.Each speaker gave a presentation highlighting the challenges and obstacles to be overcome when setting up various sustainable tourism projects. Nearly 100 participants, mainly tourism professionals, took part in this distance learning webinar.

The webinar was divided into two parts, with presentations byBooking.com, Palau Visitors AuthorityandTahiti Tourisme, followed by a panel discussion with the speakers, giving participants the opportunity to ask the speakers questions.

On this occasion,Tahiti Tourismepresented how the destination The Islands of Tahiti has set out on the road to inclusive and sustainable tourism, with particular reference to :

  • French Polynesia’s sustainable development roadmap with the tourism development strategy for the next 5 years – Fāri’ira’a Manihini 2027– and the mode of governance to ensure that inclusive and sustainable tourism is put in place.
  • 2023, as the first year of implementation of this strategy with, on the one hand, actions to raise awareness and train the local population and Polynesian professionals, in sustainable tourism,
  • Secondly, international communication and promotion campaigns aimed at potential visitors, tour operators, the media and local tourism partners (travel advice, dedicated press kit, dedicated section on the corporate website, etc).
  • And finally, there are a number of structuring projects underway, such as the Carbon Audit of the Polynesian tourism sector.
