Is your ship calling at Tahiti & Her Islands? To ensure a smooth welcome and respect for protected areas, it is essential to plan your arrival carefully. This includes making a compulsory reservation for your mooring with the relevant authorities, to ensure you have a privileged place in the heart of our lagoons while preserving our fragile ecosystems.

In addition to parking, don’t forget to make your official declaration of entry into French Polynesia. These simplified administrative formalities are the guarantee of a serene and fully compliant stay, allowing you to take full advantage of the magic of our archipelagos from the moment you first weigh anchor.

  • Customs formalities

    Passengers must be in possession of a passport valid for 6 months after their date of departure from French Polynesia.
    The Polynesian veterinary and phytosanitary services meet the strictest European standards to guarantee food safety and hygiene by respecting a seamless chain of refrigeration measures.

  • Biosafety formalities

    The following biosecurity formalities are MANDATORY for any vessel arriving from a PORT OUTSIDE French Polynesia (F.P.).

    1. Notify the Biosafety Department in Motu-Uta of your arrival via secretariat@biosecurite.gov.pf

    2. If you are travelling with a pet, ALSO contact the zoo-sanitary unit for your biosafety formalities by e-mail at animal.impex@biosecurite.gov.pf
    3. If your ship touched an infested port* in the 9 months prior to its arrival in the P.F :
      – You MUST dock at the port of Papeete in TAHITI;
      – Only berth between 6.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.
    4. If your vessel has not called at an infested port* in the 9 months prior to its arrival in the F.P., your vessel must dock at an official F.P.* entry point of a country, territory or zone recognised as infested by Oryctes spp., Strategus spp. and Scapanes spp.- Order 2471 CM dated 4 November 2021.

  • Ship and shore agents

    These professionals are privileged partners responsible for managing each port of call in its entirety, and remain in constant contact with the port authorities. Shipping agents are also responsible for all related tasks and formalities: official control, customs, phytosanitary, fresh water supply, waste management, design of excursions and transfers undertaken by cruise passengers.

  • Fuel

    Refuelling procedures are carried out jointly by selected and trained personnel who apply international safety standards.

  • Customs clearance of goods

    The administrative procedures for clearing goods through customs are carried out by shipping agents in partnership with a network of different professions (forwarding agents, customs agents, phytosanitary agents, etc.). Transhipment status for the storage of foodstuffs was adopted in 2008, improving and simplifying customs procedures.

  • Suppliers

    In order to meet the needs of cruise passengers of different nationalities, foodstuffs are imported daily from the United States, New Zealand, Europe and Asia, guaranteeing a constant supply.

  • Steering

    Pilotage is compulsory on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea Tahaa, Bora Bora, Rangiroa and Fakarava:

    • for vessels over 40m LOA within the limits of the port of Papeete ;
    • for vessels over 90m LOA in other ports and lagoons. Pilotage is not compulsory on other islands, but pilots can provide this service on request, and offer their expertise to help design itineraries throughout French Polynesia.
  • Visas for crew members

    Since 1 March 2016, crew members (sailors, on-board service personnel) on vessels operating in French Polynesia for more than 3 consecutive months do not require long-stay visas. For more information, please contact Tahiti Cruise Club or your shipping agent.
